Here's a simple way to create a special link that lets you download your file directly. You can do this on any device, like your computer (Windows or Mac), Linux, Chromebook, iPhone, iPad, or Android phone.

Let's use a regular web browser on your computer for this example.

1. Open a web browser on your computer.

2. Go to the Google Drive website.

3. Find the file you want to make a direct download link for.

That's it! Now you're ready to create your special link for direct downloading.

To share your file, first, click the right mouse button (or use the three-dot button). Next, go to "Share" and then select "Share" again from the options that appear.

[NOTE: If you just click "Copy Link," you'll need to manually approve access for every person that tries to use it. In some situations that is a great feature, but it can make distributing a file to a lot of people extremely laborious.]

When you want to share a file, a window will appear. If you only want specific people to be able to get the file, share it with them. But if you want anyone on the internet to get it, click on the menu under "General Access" and change it to "Anyone With The Link."

To find the unique file ID for a Google Drive file, follow these steps:

1. Open the Google Drive file you want to get the ID for.

2. Look at the URL in your web browser's address bar. It should be something like "https://drive.google.com/file/d/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/view" where "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" is a long string of characters.

3. Copy the text that's between the last slash ("/") and "/view" in the URL. This is the unique file ID for your Google Drive file.

That's it! You now have the file ID you need.
